Training is large part of our routine. Here a USDOC team practices clearing out a bunker with a referee looking on.

Our smoke jumpers have to be jump qualified and we stress jump training for all members of our command.

Tennessee Recruiting Mission

A recent trip was taken by RCO Kanowarrior and Fire Chief Sam Blade to Tennessee in November 2001 to recruit some new members to Capistrano Island. Second in Command DRCO Andrea Blade had to remain at Capistrano Island to keep the adminstration of my command intact.

Sam Blade and his son Tommy arrive in Knoxville. Tommy will be visiting with relatives while his dad is working on the recruiting drive.

Sam's first encounter with the locals was frightening! He wasn't sure if he was being friendly or hungry.

Sam discovered the lair of the creature. "Hmmm...., I think I'll avoid this." He couldn't help but note the aroma coming from this cave "YYYeeeewwwwuuuuuu!!!".

Tommy was getting hungry so Sam explored the local eats. "Let's see.... chocolate syrup, cranberry juice, something called 'toeflu', CHEESE!"

In the end, Sam was happy. He had found PIZZA and Coke! Yummm....

After a side trip to North Carolina to visit the Vanderbilt Estate, Sam made a mental note to request barracks back home like this.
